New Year's Resolution

Thinking about this will be the first year that I don't have any wishes for school, it actually makes me feel nervous. I don't have to worry about grades, rankings, or even getting a job. So what am I gonna do in the year of 2013?

Well the first 2 things came to my mind are still taking exams. I have the patent bar to take and the road test for my driver's license. I don't think neither of them is hard, I'll just put some time to prepare. I'm thinking about taking the CA bar exam as well but I don't think I will need it. Who wants to practice in California.. I had an assignment from my litigation class in law school and the case was in Central District of California (nope, not Apple v. Samsung, but I guess that would be a good assignment to make those law school kids to hate you though), and I figured I do not want to practice in California because of their crazy local rules. (LOL or maybe it was just because I didn't like that class, who knows.)

I think work is going to be more challenging in the coming new year. Even though I don’t think I have the ability to control the volume of my work, I wish I can get the ‘984 and ‘379 applications allowed in the New Year. So I can move on to new cases and learn more new things rather than just repeating my arguments again and again trying to convince the Examiner.

I want to get my very own 7th Circuit Criminal Justice Act Pro Bono case in 2013. I volunteered in the program and am ready to take whatever case they assign me to. I know I probably will not have the opportunity to brief and argue my case in the Fed Circuit in the foreseeable future (unfortunately…) But for pro bono cases I guess I have a greater chance to brief and argue one. I am excited already for just thinking about presenting an argument in front of a panel from the 7th Circuit. Posner, Easterbrook, Rovner, or Bauer... hmmmmm haha alright we’ll see.

I wish to be appointed to the ISBA YLD councils. To publish or work on at least two law review or Bar Journal articles.

ohohoh Ok gotta stop! That’s enough for work….

I will read one book each month. Topics will not be limited but I would say probably more on history? I felt bad about my lack of knowledge on history after watching the movie Lincoln. (Also about 13th Amendment was not even mentioned in law school… I barely knew anything about how it got passed and what it even meant to our country. And I dropped US Con. History because I needed the credits for my externship…ahhhh maybe it’s a good reason to go back to school and join that class if they are still offering it.. It was a great class, lots of reading assignments which I didn’t have the time to finish XD.)

I need to work out at least 5 hours a week. I don’t care what I do in the gym I just have to go there more. And I need to eat more vegies and fruits, that’s good for my health. OK how’s this, I’ll do all vegie food 2 days a week.
I would also like to make more money but that actually means nothing to me haha. I’m just saying coz I have to pay my parents back for the tuition they’ve paid for my law school education.

I will have to practice my Chinese writing skills too. I was working on an article on the new patent regulations in China and I figured my Chinese is just…..I will post at least one blog here in Chinese every 2 weeks. That leaves me the cushion to write one in English every other week. Haha!

Well, these are my New Year’s resolutions! Time to get started!
